Paul Hughes


Paul Hughes has provided investment banking services to public and private companies for over 25 years. He has extensive experience representing buyers and sellers in mergers and acquisitions, including in connection with recapitalizations, cross-border transactions, tender offers, tax-free reorganizations, going-private transactions, and corporate divestitures. Mr. Hughes has also raised all forms of debt and equity capital for clients, including senior, subordinated and mezzanine debt, and various equity and equity linked securities. He has also worked on numerous secondary and initial public offerings, including cross-border IPOs, reverse merger transactions and structured IPOs of units comprised of debt and equity. In addition, he has advised directors of numerous companies in connection with corporate governance provisions, dividend policies, share buybacks, reviews of strategic financial alternatives, and valuation matters. 


Prior to joining BlackTorch Capital, he served as a Managing Director at PGP Capital Advisors, LLC for over six years and at Angeles Capital Group, LLC and Gerard Klauer Mattison & Co., Inc. in Los Angeles. Previously, he was Co-Head of Corporate Finance at John G. Kinnard and Co. in Minneapolis, and was a Managing Director at Dain Rauscher Corporation and Union Bank of California. Mr. Hughes started his investment banking career with Drexel Burnham Lambert in New York and Beverly Hills. Prior to investment banking, he worked in public accounting and in industry.


Mr. Hughes is a Chartered Global Management Accountant, with an MBA from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of British Columbia.
